They are similar to greige paint colors but just the opposite. With greige paint colors, gray is the dominant color, and beige is in the background, whereas with mushroom paint colors, beige/brown is prevalent over gray.
They can also be similar to taupe paint colors, but they are a bit warmer and have less purple or red in them.
There is such a wide variety of “mushroom paint colors.” They often overlap with greige and taupe colors.

ARE MUSHROOM PAINT COLORS TRENDY OR TIMELESS?
I think mushroom paint colors are both trendy and timeless. Think about it; they are technically neutral paint colors. And I feel like neutral paint colors are timeless when they are done right.
Keep in mind that, like fashion trends, they are not for everyone. The same concept goes along with paint colors and home decor. Not one thing works for everyone.
If you are thinking about trying a mushroom paint color, you have to sample it beforehand. This is the only way to see if the color will work in your home.
Overall, mushroom paint colors may be a trend, but they will stand the test of time, granted they are used mindfully.

Loggia is a popular Sherwin-Williams neutral paint color and is from the yellow hue family.
This color is in the realm of a tan or beige color. It’s great because it is warm-toned, but it also has a bit of gray in it. I feel like it’s an updated, better version of a builder’s beige.
Try pairing it with SW Creamy.
BALANCE BEIGE SW 7037 SHERWIN WILLIAMS

Balanced Beige by Sherwin Williams is another very useful neutral paint color. This neutral is from the yellow hue family and has an LRV 46, which makes it more of a mid-toned color.
Balanced Beige has a taupe-ish base. It has a slight red undertone that gives it just the right amount of warmth.
Taupe colors have an appeal as being cooler than beige but warmer than grey. Balanced Beige doesn’t read overly warm and won’t look pink.
MUSHROOM SW 9587 SHERWIN WILLIAMS

Sherwin Williams Mushroom is the perfect mushroom paint color. I mean, the color was named Mushroom. This is a newer color to the SW family. It is in the Emerald Designer Collection.
SW Mushroom comes from the yellow hue family. It has a good amount of warmth, but it doesn’t pull too yellow. You can thank the gray in it for that.
MINIMALIST SW 9611 SHERWIN WILLIAMS

Minimalist SW 9611 is another paint color from the Sherwin Williams Emerald Designer Edition.
This gorgeous mushroom-inspired color comes from the yellow-red hue family. Again it has that warm, but it has a bit more of a yellowish-red feel to it.
Still, an extremely beautiful and elegant color to use in your home for a really clean yet earthy feel.
STICKS & STONES SW 7503 SHERWIN WILLIAMS

Sherwin Williams Sticks & Stones is a bit of a darker mushroom paint color. Like SW Minimalist, this one also comes from the yellow-red hue family. So it has a bit of the yellow-red warmth to it.
Sticks & Stones has a stone-like appearance. Its brownish-gray tones are stone-like yet soft and welcoming.
This nature-inspired color is cooler and has a bit more gray to it than some of the others on this list.

Pashmina is the ultimate mix of warm and cool. It is a perfectly well-balanced neutral paint color.

Plymouth Rock by Benjamin Moore is another slightly cooler and darker mushroom paint color. It is from the yellow hue family. It has a bit less warmth than most of the colors I am speaking about today.
BM Plymouth Rock has a bit more of a taupe-ish vibe, yet it still fits into a mushroom-inspired color.
Plymouth Rock is also known as Valley Forge Tan.
BLEEKER BEIGE HC-80 BENJAMIN MOORE

Bleeker Beige is another mid-toned mushroom paint color from Benjamin Moore. It comes from the yellow hue family.
This color has a beige look to it, but it has this gray tone to it that keeps it from getting too beige or yellow-looking.
Bleeker Beige is a beautiful warm neutral buff shade that has a truly earthy feel.

Smokey Taupe by Benjamin Moore is one of the lighter mushroom paint colors on my list. It comes from the yellow-red hue family.
BM Smokey Taupe is a grayish color with a bit of that yellow-red, which adds a taupe feel. It still has a decent amount of warmth in it that keeps it from looking too gray.
This is such an appealing neutral paint color that adds elegance to any space.

WHERE SHOULD YOU USE MUSHROOM PAINT COLORS?
Do you know what the beautiful thing about paint is? You can use it practically anywhere you want.
Does this mean you should? No, but it’s nice to know you can do what you want because there are no set-in-stone rules with paint colors.
So with these fantastic mushroom colors I shared, I think they will work beautifully anywhere: walls, furniture, kitchen cabinets, exterior, etc.
I find these shades particularly lovely when used on kitchen cabinets and the exterior of the home. I find that they have a good amount of depth to them that makes them stand out and really steal the show.
They also really shine when they are paired with a white trim like BM Chantilly Lace.

In my opinion, mushroom paint colors are here to stay. Yes, they are trendy, but I think if they are used correctly, they will outlive the trendiness.
Whether or not you are into keeping up with trends, I think these are 10 neutral and natural paint colors that are gorgeous and versatile. They are all so useful and have an elegant yet homey vibe.
Now I have to mention that not all paint colors work for everyone. You need to test out the paint colors before you dive right in.
